Meet The Admin Team
Jason Lauer, MEd.
High School Principal
Jason earned his undergraduate and masters in education from Liberty University and has been involved in public school education for 20 years. He also was a baseball and basketball coach at various schools in which he taught.
Jason was saved and baptized as a young boy and has grown in the church. He has been married to his wife, Krystal Cersley Lauer for 14 years, and they have three sons Kennon (10), Kayden (9), and Karter (6). Krystal is an alumnus of UCA, and their three boys have attended UCA since preschool. Their family is active at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Earlysville and very involved in numerous community service projects.
Jason’s vision is to carry the mission of our founder James E. Woods and the legacy of Barbara Powell to build Crusaders in Christ. Please welcome him and his family again to the UCA family.

Melissa Moore, MEd.
Middle School Principal
Melissa earned her undergraduate and masters from Bob Jones University in missions and English. Prior to coming to UCA, Melissa worked for BJU press until 9/11/01, when her and her husband relocated to the area. Several years ago, Mrs. Barbara Powell requested Mrs. Moore to step into a leadership role at UCA; and she happily accepted to serve, as the UCA middle school principal.
Since 2005, Mrs. Moore has been at UCA serving as the middle school English, reading and Bible teacher. Her and her husband attend Sunset Drive Baptist Church near their home in Page County. Melissa serves the Lord at church in children’s ministry and music ministry. Her and her husband enjoy caring for their three dogs, three cats and 30 chickens in their spare time. Mrs. Moore is excited to continue to educate and mold the UCA middle schoolers into servants of Christ.
Elementary School Principal
Mrs. Leah Knight is passionate to lead the elementary by guiding children in Christ and fulfilling the legacy of her grandmother, Mrs. Barbara Powell. After graduating from UCA, Leah continued her education with a softball scholarship at Longwood University to earn her bachelors degree. This past year Leah has so lovingly and excitedly taught one of our UCA K-4 classes. Leah and her husband, Satchel, attend First Bible Baptist Church and are eager to contribute to the Christian growth of all Crusaders.
Elementary School Principal
Mrs. Reta Kennon is well-known at UCA to step up to the plate and passionately build Crusaders for Christ. She has dedicated the past 15 years loving, educating, and praying for the elementary students of UCA. During her tenure, she has primarily taught 2nd grade and has enjoyed coaching basketball and volleyball. She has also had the joy of being mom to four UCA and Liberty University graduates. Reta and her husband, Leo, have been married for 37 years and attend Legacy Church.
